The Race for Song of the Year in Lekompo Nation

Shandesh vs Kharishma – Who’s Driving Us into 2026?

Hold onto your Bluetooth speakers, fam, because the race for Lekompo Nation’s Song of the Year 2025 is wilder than a taxi queue on month-end Friday! We were all chilling, sipping some drinks and nodding our heads to Shandesh’s certified hits, convinced that this was her year, her era, her moment. Slender or Sdudla had us all choosing teams (some of us are still traumatised from being called Sdudla at the groove), Di Chooper made us believe we all needed bikes even if we can't afford to fuel them, and Warning? A lyrical grenade — boom!

Seriously, 2025 was basically Shandesh’s Spotify playlist, and we were just living in it. Some people might have already printed T-shirts saying “Shandesh for President, Take us to 2026!” But before the ink could dry, Kharishma said, “Wait a minute… let's just drop this real quick.”

Enter “Wa Inama” — Kharishma’s new groove-bending, waist-shaking, horn-blessing collaboration with Janisto, produced by none other than DJ Angelo and the melodic magician BuddySax. If that combo doesn’t scream “hit alert,” then you probably listen to sad music for fun.

Lekompo streets are on fire, fans are tweeting, Facebook aunties are sending voice notes in excitement, and TikTok kids already got 14 dance challenges ready. One fan wrote: “Kharishma o ya ka nnete, this one is not a song – it’s an anthem!” Another shouted: “We were dancing for Shandesh, but now we're kneeling for Kharishma!” Dramatic? Yes. Wrong? Not really.

Let’s be honest, the real winners here are us, the fans. Two of Limpopo’s finest young female vocalists are dropping heaters like it's raining pap at a wedding of Bapedi. The level of talent? Unmatched. The energy? Nuclear. The drama? Juicy.

But here’s the tea: Can Kharishma pull a late-year plot twist and carry us to 2026 like a festive taxi to Giyani through N1 and R81? Or is Shandesh already too far ahead, cruising with the windows down and speakers blasting "Slender or Sdudla"?

Only time (and December playlists) will tell. For now, we suggest you:

  • Charge your phone
  • Clean your speakers
  • Stock up on dancing shoes
  • And let the queens of Lekompo battle it out... musically, of course.

One thing’s for sure — Lekompo Nation isn’t ready to choose yet, but we’re 100% here for the ride.

Kharishma

Hugo Broos, Words, and the Storm That Followed: Is This Outrage or Selective Anger? By Sebola ML B afana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has once again found himself at the centre of a heated national debate, not because of team selection or tactics, but because of words that many believe crossed the line. The political party UDM has since requested the Human Rights Commission to investigate, arguing that the remarks are racist and sexist. from Cheers to Doubt: The Complicated Bail Battle of Shebe Shxt Sebola ML For a brief moment, hope surged through the crowd. The Rise of Lekompo: A New Wave in Limpopo’s Musical Identity

The Rise of Lekompo: A New Wave in Limpopo’s Musical Identity In the heart of South Africa's Limpopo province, a genre is quietly but powerfully rewriting the script of local soundscapes,  Lekompo . Born from a fusion of Bolobedu house , Afro House , and Disco Music , Lekompo is more than just music; it’s an attitude, a lifestyle, and a cultural revolution deeply rooted in the rural experiences of Limpopo. What makes this genre special is how it blends authentic vernacular lyricism with modern production, giving it both mainstream appeal and raw local flavour. The Foundational Voices of Lekompo Artists like King Monada , a global symbol of Limpopo’s musical excellence, laid the groundwork for the genre. His pioneering work , highlighted by hits like "Ska Bhora Moreki" and  "Malwedhe, " brought the Bolobedu sound to the world stage, giving Lekompo its spiritual and sonic roots. But Monada didn't walk alone, artists such as Dhem Scott , Kaychelow , Shandes...
